Gadgets and Gear:
Here is a list of stuff that I like and use. If you like my work, you might like these things:
Molskine hard cover art journal. I have been a fan of Molskine for many years. Their paper quality is consistent and holds most inks and markers without smudging or smearing.
Moleskine Soft Cover Cahier Journal XL. This journal is the one I use for sketchnotes and when I am on the go. While I would not consider it an art journal it does a good job with pens, markers, and pencil. The paper is thinner, so I use a blank sheet between pages to prevent bleed.
Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens. I use these pens everyday for sketchnotes and drawing. They have a consistent line and you can find them almost anywhere on the planet.
Sharpie Fine Point Pens. I use these pens for finer lines and detail for both sketchnotes and drawing.
Apple iPad Pro 11-inch. I love my iPad Pro. I use out for creating my final illustrations. The Apple Pencil is an amazing combination that allows me to draw in a natural way and create professional illustrations. I do use a screen protector which makes the screen feel like a piece of paper and offers just the right resistance to the Apple Pencil.
Books I recommend:
Show Your Work by Austin Kleon. I highly recommend all of Austin’s books. Show Your Work is about getting your creative work out into the world. I refer to this book often.
The Icarus Deception by Seth Godin. I bought this book in 2012, when it was released. I have read it once or twice a year ever since. The book is a wonderful reminder of why your creativity is needed in the world and why you should invest in yourself.
